After we expressed our concerns about students not being able to attend the EBT due to having classes or exams the management team put some effort into this and the EST team, in close cooperation with Planning and TiSEM Career Services, has blocked April 15-19 (2019) to be education-free. For 2020 the management team strives to have all company days education-free.
Quality of Education
We have asked the MT to provide us with UTQ (University Teaching Quality) updates regularly. The MT will also look into possibilities for improving the mobility window for EOR and Tax Economics.
In the academic year of 2017-2018 a pilot of the implementation of the Tilburg Education Profile (TEP) took place in the bachelor program of IBA. In this pilot students could opt for a PDP (Personal Development Plan) in which they had access to a student-mentor and a specially developed skill-program.
We are positive about the TEP in general, but also have some concerns about the outcomes of this pilot. Our main concerns about the full implementation of the TEP were the integration of TEP into PDP, what can we expect from the upcoming year as to information and possible changes, and the internal structure of the next phase.
For us there were three conditions to be met before we could advise positively on the mentoring and the skills-program:
- The evaluation of the program should be earlier next year, in February.
- A concrete plan how PDP relates to TEP.
- Frequent updates throughout the year.
The MT agreed to these conditions, so we are looking forward to a proper and well monitored implementation of TEP within TiSEM. ECCO will keep a close eye on the developments on all levels of the TEP.
